Marco SCALISI
Tenure track Assistant Professor (RTDB) from October 2024 at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Catania.
My research focuses on theoretical high-energy physics (quantum gravity, string theory, supergravity, swampland) and theoretical cosmology (inflation, dark energy, gravitational waves).
I have held the following postdoctoral researcher positions:
- 2020-2024 at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich, Germany.
- 2017-2020 at KU Leuven in Belgium.
- 2019-2019 at Harvard University in the USA.
- 2016-2017 at DESY in Hamburg, Germany.
I obtained a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands in 2016. Part of my doctoral research was carried out at Stanford University (USA) in 2014, where I collaborated for an extended period with Prof. Andrei Linde and Prof. Renata Kallosh, leading experts in cosmology, string theory, and supergravity.
I completed my studies at the University of Catania with the highest honors (110/110 cum laude), both for my Bachelor's degree in 2008 and my Master's degree in 2011. A significant portion of my Master's studies was conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam, Germany, where I worked on two different research projects between 2011 and 2012.
