High Energy Physics Simulation Techniques to Study Sustainable Systems For Future Food
Description
Industrial agriculture uses an enormous amount of energy, with a dangerous dependence of food production on fossil fuels. To minimize the need for transportation, storage and maintenance, ways to realize permanent ecosystems, as renewable sources of diversified crops and animals, should be explored. As in particle physics, where to design new detectors it is fundamental to develop early-on sophisticated simulations of complex events, a new software is proposed aiming to predict the evolution of an agricultural site and to optimize the amount and spread over the seasons of the potential yield.
