The space frontier of Quantum Communications

Giovedì 20 luglio 2023, con inizio alle ore 15:30, presso la Sala Conferenze del DFA (pianterreno), su invito del Prof. G. Falci, il Prof. Paolo Villoresi (Università di Padova) terrà un seminario-colloquium dal titolo The space frontier of Quantum Communications.

Abstract. Quantum Communications exploit the most fundamental carriers for connecting distant interlocutors: the quantum states. They are then excellent means for fundamental tests of Quantum Mechanics as well as for applications of Quantum Information protocols. Developments of Space Quantum Communications extend the possibilities by enlarging the scale. However, this requires dedicated quantum devices suitable for harsh environmental conditions and with enhanced performances. Suitable solutions for advanced payload are presented, including record low-noise qubit generators. A review of quantum optical experiments in space will also be briefly presented.
