Learning Objectives
Objective of the course is to give the fundamentals of photonics, the science at the basis of emission, control and detection of light quanta.

Absorbance, spontaneous emission and stimulated emission - Optical amplifiers – atomic lasers – p-n junction - LEDs - semiconductor lasers – photon detectors – solar cells – optical waveguides – optical fibers - optical modulators – photonic crystals - nanocavities
